View of the south balcony heading to the Mediterranean Sea of the Monte Carlo casino in Monaco. The building hosts a casino, the Grand Théâtre de Monte Carlo and the office of Les Ballets de Monte Carlo. The construction followed the plans of Parisian architect Gobineau de la Bretonnerie and took 7 years to complete until it was inagurated in 1853. The casino is owned and operated by a public company, controlled by the government and ruling family, that also owns the principal hotels, sports clubs and restaurants, but does not allow the entrance to Monaco citizens.
